Mekong Salt Lab

We are delighted to be part of the exciting “Mekong Salt Lab” pilot project in Tra Vinh Province (Mekong Delta, Vietnam), led by The Water Agency. Together with partners from Vietnam and The Netherlands, including Tra Vinh UniversityKim Delta VietnamThe Salt DoctorsSaxion,  HZ University of Applied Sciences and Acacia Water, we will support farmers to adapt to the increasing soil and water salinization.

Salinity damages crops, induces land degradation, and leads to a shortage of freshwater. In Tra Vinh Province alone, salinity is threatening the livelihoods of more than 250,000 farming households. Across the Mekong Delta, millions of people are affected.

SkillEd will, among others, implement two on-/offline salinity training apps including four blended training packages in Vietnamese.  We aim to train at least 40 trainer-of-trainers/extension workers and 200 farmers/value chain partners about practical salinity adaptation solutions.
