Innovation From the Delta: Scaling Solutions for a Salty Future
The last days in Vietnam have been a whirlwind of ideas, collaboration, and hands‑on learning. From high‑level meetings with the Can Tho People’s Committee to lively exchanges with nearly 100 researchers and students at Can Tho University, one theme kept coming back: how to tackle salinity challenges with practical, scalable innovation.
Discussions centered on effective salinity management and pathways to scale commercially viable innovations with strong private‑sector engagement. We joined a panel on “From farm to future” — a great chance to highlight integrated extension systems for smallholder farmers and the power of multi‑partner collaboration.
Out on the farms, the insights have been just as inspiring:
- Small pruning adjustments that dramatically extend fruit‑tree productivity.
- Smart hydroponic setups – in greenhouses and open fields – showing real potential against rising salinity.
- And everywhere, the reminder that blended, farmer‑centred extension systems are key for large‑scale adoption.
