Rainy skies, resilient teams

The rainy season has truly arrived in Uganda’s Circular Refugee Camp, Imvepi. Despite the downpours, our partners completed the installation of a Sanisecure sanitation system for treating faecal sludge – and it’s now up and running!

In the coming weeks, the system will be filled with 200 tons of sludge, which will be processed to create hygienic, nutrient-rich compost.

This compost serves two purposes:

  • One part will be sold to local farmers to support agriculture.
  • One part will be used in the camp’s tree nursery, where fruit, timber, and reforestation seedlings are grown for the local forestry market.

The impact goes far beyond sanitation: creating jobs, capturing CO₂, producing oxygen, and boosting local economic growth. One of our goals is to plant at least 700,000 trees per year per project location.

We’re excited about what’s ahead.
