From refugee to certified biogas operator
Meet Akenna Willy, whose journey shows how practical skills and digital learning can transform lives.
As part of a recent hands-on training program in Imvepi and Rhino Camp refugee settlements, participants learned to operate biogas electrification systems powering local health centres. SkillEd supported the initiative by developing the Circular Refugee Camps app, enabling trainees to study remotely.
Akenna’s story is one of resilience, learning, and community empowerment—and it’s exactly the kind of story we love. Seeing the real-world impact of SkillEd tools is our favourite part of the work.
Huge thanks to SEMiLLA Sanitation, Biogas Solutions Uganda Limited, HS GREEN ENERGY UGANDA, Nijhuis Saur Industries, and Se4allproject.eu for making this possible!
