Update from the Mekong Salt Lab
The Mekong Salt Lab (MSL) in Vietnam has just entered a crucial phase of our mission to empower Vietnamese farming communities to adapt to the increasing challenges of salinity.
Together with our 12 lead farmers, we are validating the usability and content of our courses to ensure that our training materials effectively meet their needs.
For example, we have already included audio files in our courses, as many farmers have expressed a preference for learning by listening. In addition to this validation, we are currently training 40 more farmers.
In the next phase of the Mekong Salt Lab project, which is expected to start in early May, each lead farmer will train five additional farmers. This cascading approach will amplify our impact and promote a scalable and sustainable model for addressing salinity issues in agriculture.
The MSL is a collaboration of various experts from Vietnam and the Netherlands, including Tra Vinh University, The Water Agency, The Salt Doctors, Kim Delta Vietnam, Saxion University of Applied Sciences, Stichting Hogeschool Zeeland, Acacia Water and SkillEd. The project is supported by Partners for Water, the Netherlands Enterprise Agency (RVO) | Partner in Sustainable Development.
Together, we build resilience against salinity and create thriving agricultural communities. Stay tuned for updates as we progress through this important journey!
